1/200 Wood Deck for the classic Nichimo YAMATO. C H R I S T M A S S A L E! This Wood Deck for the 1/200 Yamato kit from Nichimo represents our biggest deck yet, and introduces a new plank tint scheme specifically created to simulate Japanese Cypress. Our decks are micro-thin (about the thickness of a heavy sheet of paper) and made of 100% real wood, backed with fleece to provide working strength.

Our manufacturing process combines Color Printing and Laser Cutting for extreme precision. Decks are intended to be cemented to plastic model with styrene cement, wood glue, contact cement, or epoxy.

We do not provide a self-adhesive backing as our experience has shown that these can be problematic in positioning. With the fleece backing, the glue has plenty of surface to bind to. As for the detail, this deck includes historically accurate planking, to scale, on the 1/200 Yamato. The Nichimo Yamato is an old kit and lacks modern precision and detail, but it makes up for it in sheer size! Our wood deck helps to resolve some of the fit problems with the kit by providing a cover-up for inevitable deck seams.

This decks is also based on extensive research and clears up some historically inaccurate details of the kit, including rendering additional steel deck features in the Yamato's characteristic dark grey. We use this complicated two-step printing process because we are able to apply a line much thinner than "burning" in the pattern with the laser, plus it allows us to work in full color. We tint individual planks to give the look of each board being laid as a separate piece of wood, and print VERY thin plank separator lines in shades of gray. This avoids the extra-dark chocolaty-brown lines that can result when relying upon the laser to do this.

The net result is that you have a real wood surface that looks like real wood, with accurate scale and properly colored and variable individual planks. The sheet of wood is precision cut and drops directly into place onto the plastic deck in one step. Super-fast to do, and a superb result every time!

Decks are precision measured and cut to 1/100 of an inch accuracy, and all of our decks are custom tested on actual plastic kits. This deck is known to fit the Nichimo 1/200 Yamato.
